Health, Safety & Environment

Because we are a 'people' business involved with some potentially hazardous activities, health and safety (and environmental impact) are high on our agenda. Our attitude towards HSE is further reinforced by the fact that a lot of what we do is done on our client's premises and often under potentially hazardous operating conditions.

We encourage a culture where everybody involved values and assumes responsibility for HSE. Our proactive approach is driven and monitored by our senior management team supported by professional external consultants who benchmark and develop performance through audit and awareness initiatives.

Our commitment to ensuring safety and protecting both human and environmental welfare is evidenced by our track record.

In 35 years of continuous trading we have had no fatalities and no serious injuries.

Over this same timeframe our recorded lost working days through injury have averaged less than 0.2% per annum.

We have achieved this enviable record by ensuring that -

  • Every job we do is subject to thorough Risk Assessment prior to commencement.
  • All operational staff are fully equipped with appropriate PPE, including specialized kit to cover specific individual or application needs.
  • Staff working on oil & gas platforms carry Offshore Survival Certificates and those involved in any activity involving radiation carry international 'passports' which are independently monitored on a monthly basis.
  • All radiographic equipment and facilities are subject to routine (daily) checks with regular independent testing.
  • All statutory requirements are satisfied in full - including those relating to data protection, environmental impact.
  • All personnel are briefed in the importance of safety and regular 'tool box' talks are held to maintain awareness.
  • Incident reporting is encouraged, with particular emphasis on 'near miss' avoidance reporting.

However, these impressive statistics do not lead us to complacency and we continue to strive towards improvement.
